Founded in 2012, Based in Chicago, Illinois
Stock Mfg. Co.
At the Stock Manufacturing Company, they design and produce premium garments right in their historic Chicago factory, and sell them directly to customers, without middlemen. Stock’s goal is to provide top quality, domestically made garments at the most affordable price possible, while making a meaningful impact on American job creation.
In addition to their in-house label, Stock teams up frequently with other creative folks to create unique, exclusive garments. Their hope — to foster a community of collaboration and innovation while adhering to their vision of affordable quality.
In 2012, Stock took over a 40+ year old factory and still maintains their Mil-spec certification which sets the QC standards of their clothing high. This images shows one of their Rau Fastener Co. Presses (based out of Providence, RI) The kicker press can date back to the early 1900’s. The typical rivet snap fasteners were invented in 1885. Used in American on the iconic Western shirts.
Stock is based out of a 40+ year-old factory on the West Side of Chicago that was started by our co-founder’s parents, and has run continually ever since. Although their son now owns the factory, the founders still work there every day, as they have since the early 1970s.
Despite the decline of domestic manufacturing, the factory has continued to thrive due our status as a mil-spec certified facility. This enables us to produce non-combat garments for the US Military, as we have for decades.
The rigorous attention to detail that goes into formal military garb trickles down into every item we produce, ensuring a level of quality unsurpassed in the industry.
Stock was born out of a desire to build an entirely vertical clothing brand, in order to cut out the inefficiencies and extraneous markups that plague the clothing industry. They design, develop, source, manufacture, inspect, package and ship everything themselves.
Our founding team comes from a variety of backgrounds (finance, marketing, industrial design, manufacturing and retail), but have all been in the garment industry between 3 and 20 years, with each bringing a unique perspective to the business.
