When you think of raw or selvedge denim, I’m sure over 5-6 brands roll off your tongue. And while there are so many brands out there, the key to being successful is maintaining a high-quality product and being fully transparent with your customers. Railcar Fine Good’s foundation is built off producing denim from the ground up. Unlike many denim companies that design and then outsource to a local factory (using a large factory for production can lead to inconsistent quality and errors due to the numerous other brands being sewn simultaneously), Railcar Fine Goods would rather take the hard road if it means that they can guarantee the quality and specifications on everything that leaves their shop. Every Railcar Fine Goods pant, jacket, shirt, and leather item was designed, cut, and assembled by their small team using manual and vintage machinery.
Owner Steven Dang didn’t start with denim though. A former lead mechanic for Los Angeles Metro, Steven saw a need for high quality workwear while working and tearing into his clothing. We recently gave their workshop / store (and now a barbershop) a visit to get a glimpse behind the operations and see the end results.
