Questions and Answers with Blood Creek Knife Co.’s maker: Jason Robson
When was your brand founded?:
The idea of Blood Creek as a brand came to me about 3 years ago when i realized a hobby of mine showed some real promise and potential momentum in some of the social circles i make my way through. I started with a small batch of blades i did the handles for and then just went from there, learning as much as i could so i could do everything in house.
What’s the story behind your brand?:
After i had decided to run with the idea, i needed some capital. I had some luck in the past selling homemade whiskey, so i made a few batches of an old family recipe and got to work selling it out of my truck at bars after hours. Once i had enough cash under my belt, i invested in the tools i needed for my first workshop.
What was your biggest challenge starting your brand from scratch?:
Id say the hardest part about doing this from scratch is the initial organization. ive been doing this for 3 years and things can still get crazy around here. another thing is doing it solo. there are a lot of steps in what i do and simple tasks and small things sometimes get overlooked. maybe next year will be time for an employee to help.
What are some of your core principals within your brand?:
What does being successful mean to you and your brand?:
i dont measure my success or the success of my brand in dollar amount. i think more about its impact on the people who carry my pieces and relationships ive built with them. The Blood Creek Motto,”Dedicated to Life” means just that. leading a good life, having a positive effect on others and leaving a legacy behind. thats my idea of success.
What’s your next plans for your brand? :
I dont want to divulge too much info about whats next for blood creek. the best part of all this for me is coming up with new ideas and finding ways to release them to the world. I can say that coming in the next year are some really exciting colabs and new product for the more dedicated frontiersmen and women.
